Why Should I Become a Member of MSCU?
- Mennonite Savings and Credit Union is a unique financial institution. As members of Mennonite, Amish and Brethren in Christ communities, we have joined together to apply the biblical concepts of stewardship, economic justice and service in our day-to-day economic lives and financial transactions.
- MSCU is a contemporary vehicle for continuing and building our commitment to responsible stewardship of all resources and to being responsive to needs within our communities.
- As a member of MSCU, you are part of a Christian financial cooperative that supports church and community-based charities through a number of corporate stewardship initiatives.
- As an MSCU member, you are an owner and you share in the Credit Union’s governance. Annual earnings are also distributed through Ownership Benefit Shares.
- Your shares contribute to MSCU’s capital base that, in turn, ensures a healthy credit union and supports Member Assistance Services, MSCU’s mutual aid program for members in need.
- Your needs come first – you have our commitment to treat you with dignity, respect and concern.
- MSCU is committed to the values of the Anabaptist faith community – we understand your values and your community.
- Your deposits become another member’s loan.
Benefits of Being an Owner and Member of MSCU
Friendly Personal Service
As a member of MSCU, you will enjoy a full range of financial services, friendly personal service, and unique faith-based values that set MSCU apart from other financial institutions. Members, who participate in meetings and bi-annual membership surveys, consistently rate our service and values as the most important reasons for dealing with MSCU.
Membership = Ownership
A Credit Union is a financial cooperative in which you become a member and an owner. You share in the annual earnings and governance of your Credit Union. You can participate in the decision-making process both by attending regular membership meetings and/or serving as a credit union volunteer.
Your Funds are Secure
Not only are your funds invested in quality loans to your fellow members, but deposits are also insured through the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO). This insurance is equivalent to, and in some ways superior to, the coverage offered by the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC).*
*For more details about DICO and deposit insurance, please visit DICO, or contact your nearest MSCU branch.
