Financial planning continues to grow and become increasingly complex. It can be overwhelming when you look at the expanding options for market related investments, insurance products, and retirement planning. MSCU is here to help you with your financial planning and to help you find the key to understanding all of your options.

What is financial planning?

At MSCU, financial planning involves much more than selling investment products. Before any products are recommended, we encourage you to complete a process with the financial planner at your branch to determine:
• your current financial situation
• your goals and objectives - both short-term and long-term
• your tolerance for risk with investments
• income tax implications of investments and other financial decisions
• stewardship elements of financial decisions
• your risk management and insurance needs
• estate considerations

Once you have gone through this process, you will be equipped to make decisions and create a successful financial plan. Your plan may include debt reduction, saving for education, giving to church and charities, buying a home, or saving for retirement. It is important to review your financial plan periodically to address any changes in your financial situation and/or goals.

Financial planning services at MSCU

At MSCU, our financial planning advice reflects a biblically based understanding of sound stewardship and responsible financial goals. We ground our understanding in our recognition that we are called to be stewards of God's creation. We encourage all members to strive to balance prudent management of their own affairs with the needs of their faith and wider communities.

We have Certified Financial Planners who provide financial planning services without charge to all members. This is in keeping with our philosophy of equitable treatment and the encouragement of sound stewardship. As a member of MSCU, you should expect the following from your financial planning department:

1. Objective advice that is in your best interest - MSCU's staff members do not receive commission or compensation from selling financial products. Recommendations are based solely on the financial planning process.

2. Knowledgeable Staff - All MSCU staff members are encouraged to upgrade their knowledge and skills through continuing education. Some staff members are specialized in certain areas, if your situation requires it, you will be referred to the person with the expertise to meet your needs.

3. Complete Confidentiality.
