History
Mennonite Savings and Credit Union is a unique full-service financial cooperative that bridges the daily banking needs of some 15,900 members across Ontario with the "barn-raising" mutual aid traditions of the Waterloo County Mennonite community.
Founded in 1964, the Credit Union began with a radical vision for expanding our faith community's historical commitment to mutual aid. What started out as $21 in a cash box and a modest attempt to share financial resources among Waterloo County Mennonites has grown into a full-service Anabaptist financial cooperative with more than $650 million under administration.
Today we remain committed to the radical dream of our founders: to be a Christian vehicle for the sharing of financial resources within the Mennonite, Amish, and Brethren in Christ communities. That 1964 cash box has grown to 7 full-service branches and 5 sub-locations that offer a full complement of investment and loan products.
Though many of the products we offer are like those you can find at most banks, the way we offer them is unique. At MSCU, one member's deposits become another member's loan; every member has a vote; and staff and members share fundamental values of stewardship and concern. If you have just joined MSCU, welcome – you are in good company.
If you are considering joining the credit union, we look forward to the opportunity to serve you!
